National Committee - Activities and Achievements
The conference, 'On the Development of Mountain Regions' was held in Kapaonik between 7-9 December. It aimed to explore ways of achieving sustainable mountain development in the country, by amassing knowledge and experience gained in the country to date as well as applying the standards and technology already developed in Western Europe. Topics included the spatial planning of sustainable mountain development, water management, agriculture and forestry, mining, tourism and services, and support for mountain communities.
Promotional activities for International Year of Mountains
Leaflets were distributed to raise awareness about the threats to mountain areas and their inhabitants, and to inform the public of the objectives of the Kapaonik conference.
Beyond the International Year of Mountains
The National Committee remains in operation.
