From: 29.10.2012 to: 31.10.2012
The Regional Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE), in cooperation with the Global Forum for Sustainable Energy (GSFE) and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), are organizing a High Level Forum on the theme: “Paving the Way for Sustainable Energy for All in West Africa through Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency”. Hosted by the Government of Ghana and held from 29 to 31 of October 2012, the forum will contribute to the UN Sustainable Energy for All Initiative and will follow-up on the key decisions of the Rio+20 Summit. Participants will include ECOWAS Energy Ministers, stakeholders, and other high level international delegates. At the Forum, in addition to discussions on important energy-issues, the Steering Committee of the energy component of the Strategic Programme for West Africa (SPWA) of the Global Environment Facility (GEF) will be held. The forum will launch the ECOWAS Observatory for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency and will be followed by the ‘First International Off-grid Renewable Energy Conference’. Scheduled to be held from 1 to 2 of November 2012, the Conference is being jointly organized by the Alliance for Rural Electrification (ARE), the ECOWAS Regional Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) and the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) as an official contribution to the UN Sustainable Energy for All Initiative. This Conference will be the first major international event focusing on off-grid renewable in developing countries with special focus on Africa.
